This standard specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements for tungsten filament incandescent lamps used for general lighting service with a rated power up to and including 200 W or a rated voltage of 50 V to 250 V.
This standard specifies the method a manufacturer must use to demonstrate that his product conforms to this standard, on the basis of all production evaluation, together with test records on finished products.
This method can also be applied for certification purposes. Details of a batch test procedure are also provided that can be used to make limited evaluation of batches.
This standard deals only with safety criteria and does not take into account the performance of tungsten filament lamps in terms of luminous flux, lifetime or power consumption characteristics.
