Compatibility data given refer to single gases and gas mixtures. Seamless metallic, welded metallic and composite gas cylinders and valves used to hold compressed, liquefied and dissolved gases are accepted.
In this standard, the term "cylinder" refers to portable pressure receptacles, including cylinders and pressure drums. Issues such as the quality of the delivered gas product are not taken into account.
The compatibility of cylinder materials with gas content has been established over many years through practical application and experience. Existing national and international regulations and standards do not fully cover this issue.
