This standard, in conjunction with EN ISO 11296-1, specifies requirements and test methods for pipes and fittings for refurbishment of underground non-pressurised drainage and sewer networks by covering with a single rigid ring of structural cementitious mortar formed behind a plastic inner layer. This plastic sheet acts as a permanent formwork anchored to the joint.
This standard applies to plastic cores and grout systems with or without steel reinforcement. It does not apply to the structural design of the coating system. Systems with multiple rings exist, but these are controlled by patent rights and are not covered by this document.
These system standards differ from conventionally installed plastic piping systems by the requirement to verify certain properties "in-installed" after field processing. This is in addition to specifying requirements for plastic piping system components "as manufactured".
The requirements for any family of regeneration techniques are set out in Section 1, which is implemented in conjunction with the other relevant section. For example, both EN ISO 11296-1 and this standard together specify the requirements for cladding with a rigid anchored plastic inner layer. See EN ISO 11296-1 for supplementary information. Not all technical families are suitable for every application, and this is reflected in the part numbers included in each system standard series.
