The measurement of oxidation induction time or temperature described in this standard provides a means of assessing the suitability of the tested material for a particular formulation of plastic compounds, but it is not intended to provide antioxidant concentration.

Different antioxidants may have different oxidation induction times or temperatures. Due to the interaction of antioxidants with other substances in the formulation, different oxidation induction times or temperatures may occur even in products with the same type and concentration of antioxidants.
