EN ISO 17233 Leather, Physical and Mechanical Tests, Standard Test for Determination of Cold Crack Temperature of Surface Coatings

A leather strip is kept in a hinged apparatus in a refrigerated chamber at a certain temperature. The hinged apparatus is quickly closed, causing the skin's surface coating to fold outward. The leather is examined to determine if the surface coating has cracked.

If there is a requirement to test more than two hides or skins in a batch, only one test piece of each skin or skin should be taken in each direction, provided that the total total is not less than three test pieces.
