EN ISO 23999 Flexible Floor Coverings - Test for Determination of Dimensional Stability and Curling After Exposure to Heat

This standard specifies a method for determining the dimensional stability and bending of flexible floor coverings in the form of sheet, tile or plank after exposure to heat.

The relative change in distance between marks or a given location on a test specimen is measured before and after exposure to a heat treatment under certain conditions. In the case of tiles and planks, measurements can be made using a set of blocks and dial gauges.

The heating cabinet shall be thermostatically controlled, ventilated and maintained at a uniform temperature of 80 ± 2°C. If a temperature set point other than 80°C is used, the test path should be marked as indicated and the ability of the oven to maintain a uniform temperature set point should be checked.

For samples made from boards or floor slabs, a square, surface-treated solid steel plate measuring 240 mm × 240 mm with holes for notches should be used. For boards, especially stiffer planks, the preferred method of measuring dimensional accuracy is a test block and gauge, although solid wood rigs can be used.
