It also gives guidelines for testing and classification for filters with MPPS less than 0,1 μm and for filters using media containing (loaded) synthetic fibres. Intended for use in conjunction with EN ISO 29463‑1, EN ISO 29463‑2, EN ISO 29463‑3 and EN ISO 29463‑4.
The EN ISO 29463 series establishes a procedure for determining the efficiency of all filters based on a particle counting method using a liquid (or alternatively solid) test aerosol, allowing a standardized classification of these filters in terms of their efficiency.
The difference between the EN ISO 29463 series and other national standards lies in the technique used to determine the overall efficiency. Instead of mass relationships or total concentrations, this technique relies on particle counting in MPPS, which is typically in the range of 0,12 μm to 0,25 μm for microglass filter media. This method also allows testing of ultra-low penetration air filters, which was not possible due to insufficient sensitivity in previous testing methods.
