The test should be performed on a predetermined number of containers. Containers used for testing should not be subjected to any other mechanical or thermal test that could affect their resistance.

This test procedure can be harmful to health if adequate precautions are not taken by the operator. Tests should be safely performed as recommended.

Care should be taken that there are no glass particles on the plate. Place a base pad in the center of the bottom plate with the test cup placed on it. The centerline of the container will align with that of the apparatus. Secure the container using the protective cover and at the same time, if specified for testing, place the corresponding lid on the sealing surface of the container lining. The test cup should be covered with a cushion similar to the base pad placed under the test cup, unless a lid is used. When using paper or lids, new top and bottom pads will always be used to test each container.
