ISO 22153 Testing of Electric Actuators for Industrial Valves

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ISO 22153 testing. This standard provides the basic requirements for electric valve actuators used for on-off and control valves. It includes guidelines for classification, design, housing and corrosion protection, and methods for conformity assessment.

ISO 22153 Testing of Electric Actuators for Industrial Valves

Electric actuator and gearbox combinations are covered by this document when supplied by the actuator manufacturer. This standard does not cover solenoid actuators, electro-hydraulic actuators and electric actuators integrated into valves.

Other requirements or conditions of use other than those specified in this standard are agreed between the buyer and the manufacturer/supplier prior to ordering.

Electric valve actuators are classified by type, duty and action on external electrical power loss as detailed below.

There are three types of actuators:

  • Part-turn actuator;
  • Multi-turn actuator;
  • Linear actuator.

At external power loss, the actuator can operate the valve to a predefined position using stored electrical energy. At external power loss, the actuator can operate the valve in a predefined position using stored mechanical energy.
