This standard specifies a method for the determination of the resistance to external impacts of circular-section thermoplastic pipes (24-hour method). This method is applicable to stacks of insulated pipes tested at 0°C.
Test pieces are subjected to impacts from a falling striker of a certain mass and shape, dropped from a known height at specific locations around the circumference of the test piece. The actual impact rate (TIR) of the lot or production driven from an extruder is estimated.
The intensity of this test method can be adjusted by changing the mass of the striker or by changing the fall height.
