ISO 583 Textile Carcass Conveyor Belts - Total Thickness of Elements

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, offers precise and rapid testing services within the scope of ISO 583 testing. This standard covers test methods for determining the total belt thickness and the thickness of the constituent elements of textile frame conveyor belts. The constituent elements include the covers, the carcass and the interlayers, that is, the material between adjacent floors.

The thickness of each cap is measured directly on the cut edge of the unpeeled belt by means of an optical micrometer or traveling microscope.

The thickness of an interlayer (i.e. the elastomeric material between layers of textile fabric in a multi-fabric tape) can be achieved using two methods; The choice of one or the other method depends on whether the elastomer can be completely separated from the fabric.

After the coatings are removed and again after the fabric and elastomeric layers are separated, thickness measurements are taken at various points across the bandwidth. The thickness of the intermediate layers is obtained by subtraction.
