ISO 6439 Water Quality, Determination of Phenol Index, 4-Aminoantipyrine Spectrometric Methods After Distillation

method A (direct calorimetric method): this method can measure the phenol index in test samples containing more than 0 mg/l in the aqueous phase (without chloroform extraction), using phenol as the standard;
Method B (ch l oroform extract method): This method can measure the phenol index without dilution from about 0mg/l to about 2mg/l when the colored end product is extracted and concentrated.

Separation of phenolic compounds from impurities and preservatives by distillation. The evaporation rate of phenolic compounds is gradual, so the volume of distillate should be equal to the volume of the test sample distilled.
