Requirements are specified for the basic series and sub-series of constant-mass glass hydrometers without a built-in thermometer. This International standard does not cover hydrometers with an internal thermometer for which a separate International standard is evaluated. Hydrometers comply with IS0 367 requirements.
Except for the special sub-series L5OSP, M5OSP and S5OSP, the reference temperature for density hydrometers will be 20°C. When used in a liquid at this temperature, the hydrometer should show the density of the liquid at 20°C.
The reference temperature for density hydrometers of the special sub-series L5OSP, M5OSP and S5OSP should be 20°C or 15°C. When used in a liquid of the appropriate temperature, the hydrometer should show the density of the liquid at that temperature.
When the hydrometer is slightly shifted from its equilibrium position in a liquid, the body passes over the liquid surface without causing any noticeable change in meniscus shape.
