ISO 7240-12 Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, Part 12: Standard Test for Line Smoke Detectors Using Conducted Optical Beam

Detectors consist of at least a transmitter and a receiver and may include reflectors for detecting smoke by changes in attenuation or attenuation of an optical beam.

ISO 7240-12 does not cover:

  • Inline smoke detectors designed to operate with distances between opposing components of less than 1 m;
  • Inline smoke detectors whose optical path length is defined or adjusted by an integrated mechanical link;
  • Inline smoke detectors with special characteristics that cannot be evaluated with the test methods in this part of ISO 7240.
