This Standard specifies a method for determining the effectiveness of bacteriological filtration of non-woven fabrics intended for the use of surgical masks and other dental-medical-hospital filtration materials.
This Standard is an in vitro test whose principle is to determine the effectiveness of a non-woven filter element used in a mask in terms of its capacity to retain microorganisms, not the effectiveness of the mask made. The design of the mask is decisive in the final performance of this input.
The chamber must have a ventilation device equipped with an absolute filter intended to contain microorganisms, which promotes equalization of the chamber through the air inlet or outlet.
Bacterial strain Staphylococcus aureus UT 15 can be used for testing filter elements provided that the equipment making up the test system is installed in a closed chamber with an absolute filtration system or a biological protection class II laminar flow hood, as the case may be.
