The locking procedure for tensioning devices should be clear and specific. Hand levers for belt tensioning must be in positive engagement in the closed position. To release the handle, it must first be unlocked by operating a separate unlocking device. Belt tensioners that are at least equivalent in function and safety are also acceptable. The belt length between the belt hook and the upper deflection point of the belt tensioning arm must be 350 mm at most. The value of 350 mm can be exceeded within this specific range if the interchangeable body or the commercial vehicle is equipped with clamp plates. Beltless tensioners and at least equivalent in function and safety are also acceptable.
The tensioning mechanism will be self-locking. Alternatively, if self-locking cannot be achieved, a different locking system must be available for the hand lever, which is clear and distinct to operate, secured against unintentional opening.
The upper roller guide and the hook at the lower end of the awning should be made as in the original test specimen to be used later. The awning will be equipped with upper and lower reinforcement; horizontal stiffeners in the middle can be skipped for testing. Technically comparable test determinations are acceptable.
