EN 12179 Curtain Wall, Wind Load Resistance, Test Method

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 12179 standard. This standard defines the method for determining the resistance of both the fixed and openable parts of the curtain wall to wind load under positive and negative static air pressure.

This standard applies to any curtain wall product defined in WI 00033238. The sample will be delivered ready for use, fully operational. It will be supplied suitable for fixing in the test chamber.

The test specimen shall not be less than two typical units wide and shall be sufficient to provide full loading on at least one typical vertical joint or framing member, or both. The sample should not acquire additional hardness from the test chamber. The height shall not be less than the exact distance between the connection point of the curtain wall to the building structure.

For specially designed shear walls or special elements, the sample must be of sufficient size to demonstrate compliance with the specified requirements.

All parts of the specimen shall be full size using the same materials, details, construction and fixing methods intended for use in the works. Connection conditions to structural support should simulate conditions at works as accurately as possible.
