EN 12201-3 covers three different PE fittings:
Fusion fittings: These are fittings joined to PE pipe using heat fusion techniques such as butt fusion or electrofusion. The standard specifies requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of fusion fittings.
Mechanical fittings: These are fittings that are joined to the PE pipe by mechanical means, such as compression fittings or flange joints. The standard specifies requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of mechanical fittings.
Transition fittings: They are fittings used to connect PE pipes to pipes made of other materials such as steel or PVC. The standard specifies requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of transition fittings.
