EN 124-2 Standard Test Method for Gutter Covers and Manhole Covers for Vehicle and Pedestrian Areas

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 124-2 standard. This European standard is applicable to manhole covers and manhole covers made of flake graphite cast iron or spheroid graphite cast iron, with or without concrete, with a clear opening of up to (inclusive) 1 000 mm for closing chutes, manholes and inspection.

Applies to manhole tops and gutter tops for use in the following areas:

• Areas usable only by pedestrians and pedal cyclists (class A 15 at least);
• Pedestrian areas and similar areas, car parks or parking decks (class B125 at least);
• Area of ​​curbside channels (minimum C 0,5 class) of roads extending a maximum of 0,2 m to the carriageway and a maximum of 250 m to the pedestrian area, measured from the curb;
• Vehicle roads include roads (including pedestrian streets), hard shoulders and parking areas, for all types of road vehicles (class D 400 at least);
• Areas subject to high wheel load, eg docks, aircraft sidewalks (class E 600 at least);
• Areas with particularly high wheel loads, eg aircraft pavements (class F 900).

This European standard is applicable only in combination with EN 124 1 and not alone, and guidance for frames according to EN 124-3, EN 124-4, EN 124-5 and EN 124-6 for covers/grating combinations made of cast iron provides.
