EN 124-3 Gutter Covers and Manhole Covers for Vehicle and Pedestrian Areas, Part 3: Gutter Covers and Manhole Covers Made of Steel or Aluminum Alloys

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 124-3 standard. This European standard is applicable to manhole covers and manhole covers, with or without concrete, made of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum alloys, with a clear opening up to and including 1000 mm for closing chutes, manholes and inspection chambers for installation.

Applies to manhole tops and gutter tops for use in the following areas:

• Areas usable only by pedestrians and pedal cyclists (class A 15 at least);
• Pedestrian areas and similar areas, car parks or parking decks (class B125 at least);
• Area of ​​curbside channels (minimum C 0,5 class) of roads extending a maximum of 0,2 m to the carriageway and a maximum of 250 m to the pedestrian area, measured from the curb;
• Vehicle roads include roads (including pedestrian streets), hard shoulders and parking areas, for all types of road vehicles (class D 400 at least);
• Areas subject to high wheel load, eg docks, aircraft sidewalks (class E 600 at least);
• Areas with particularly high wheel loads, eg aircraft pavements (class F 900).

The manufacture of manhole tops and gutter tops according to this standard is limited to cold forming, mechanical bending, or welding together of component parts made of sheet metal, strip or bar, or rolled or extruded metal sections.
