EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 12412-2 standard. This European standard specifies a method based on EN ISO 8990 and EN ISO 12567-1 for measuring the thermal transmittance of frame and sash components of windows and doors, including battens and transoms.
The thermal bridging effect of window or door components (handles, hinges, closing devices, etc.) is included.
The test procedure is designed to take into account the entire developed area of the frame or sash surface, but excludes the effect of thermal bridging through the spacer in sealed glass units.
Edge effects occurring outside the sample's perimeter are excluded. Also, energy transfer from solar radiation is not taken into account and air leakage is excluded.
Measurements are performed under defined conditions to facilitate comparison of measured values.
The thermal transmittance of a frame is determined by direct measurement under standard conditions using the calibrated or shielded hot box method according to EN ISO 8990 and EN ISO 12567-1. In addition to those given in this standard, the requirements of EN ISO 8990 must be complied with.
The procedure in this standard includes a correction for boundary edge heat flux to achieve standardized and reproducible thermal transmittance properties.
