This European standard specifies the characteristics of coextruded ABS sheets with an impact modified acrylic top layer for the manufacture of bath and shower trays for domestic use.
For the purposes of this standard, the term "domestic purposes" includes use in hotels, student accommodation, hospitals and similar buildings, except where special medical precautions are required.
For coextruded impact modified PMMA/ABS sheets, the top layer shall be transparent or colored. In the case of a colored topsheet, the colorant must be added during the manufacture of the sheet and the color must be throughout the thickness of the material. Color standards will be agreed between the plate manufacturer and the manufacturer.
When tested in apparatus conforming to the requirements of the xenon arc lamp method of ISO 250 for 4892 hours, the color change indicated on co-extruded impact modified PMMA/ABS sheets should be recorded in gray scale to evaluate the color change specified in ISO 105-A02.
Suspend two 300 mm square sheets of coextruded impact modified PMMA/ABS sheet in a circulating oven at (20 ± 165)°C for 5 minutes when this nominal temperature is reached. Remove the leaves from the oven, allow them to cool to room temperature while hanging vertically, and visually inspect for bubbles. If there are defects, repeat the test on new samples with 80 hours preconditioning at (2 ± 16)°C.
