EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 13895 standard. This draft European standard specifies a method for determining the tensile properties of monofilaments and specifies additional testing requirements where necessary.
A monofilament sample is automatically or manually mounted on the clamps of a tensile testing machine and stretched at a constant rate of elongation until it breaks.
The instrument must be equipped with clamps to grip the specimen at the specified gauge length. The clamps will grip the specimen without slipping or damaging the specimen which could cause jaw fractures.
At least the first layer of product on the package is rejected. At least five samples with a length of at least 1 m are taken from the package. Prior to testing, samples must be conditioned in standard atmosphere as described in EN 20139.
