This fire test protocol applies to ceiling mounted automatic nozzles to be used in unlimited volumes. This standard applies to horizontal, solid, flat ceilings with a height of 2 m and above, up to the maximum ceiling height tested.
The water supply shall be capable of providing a flow rate and pressure at the minimum operating pressure and flow rate of the automatic nozzle specified by the manufacturer. These parameters must be met according to the actual layout of the piping setup used in the test scenario.
Tests with a water mist system should be performed at maximum ceiling height, maximum clearance and minimum discharge conditions with respect to the water flow and pressure specified by the manufacturer for this application. The system must be installed in such a way as to allow the maximum time delay allowed for the system to build up water pressure.
