EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 1534 standard. This standard specifies a test-derived method for determining the resistance of wood flooring to indentation.
Resistance to indentation is determined by applying a charged indentation to the face of the test specimen. The diameter of the residual indentation is used to evaluate the test specimen's resistance to the indentation. After loading, the unloaded sample is allowed to recover.
Indents shall either be made in the central area of the test pieces or distributed over the entire area of the element's face. In an element, if the length of a piece of original solid wood exceeds 200 mm, a maximum of two recesses can be made on that piece of wood. If not, only one indentation can be performed.
The distance from the center of the recess to any edge of a test piece or element or to a knot shall not be less than 20 mm. However, if the width of the test specimen is less than 40 mm, the indentation should be located along its longitudinal axis.
The number of test specimens to be sampled is related to the number of indentations made on each test specimen. The total number of indents will be at least 50. If a soft or brittle material is attached to the back of the test specimens, this material should be removed to prevent any displacement during testing.
