EN 15714-2 Industrial Valves - Test for Electric Actuators

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 15714-2 testing. This standard provides the basic requirements for electric valve actuators used for on-off and control valves. It includes guidelines for classification, design, housing and corrosion protection, and methods for conformity assessment.

EN 15714-2 Industrial Valves - Test for Electric Actuators

Electric multi-turn actuators and gearbox combinations supplied by the actuator manufacturer are covered by this standard. In all other cases, this European Standard applies only to the electric actuator.

It does not cover the following:

  • Solenoid actuators integral in valve design;
  • Electro-hydraulic actuators and electric actuators.

Other requirements or conditions of use other than those specified in this standard should be accepted.

Actuators conforming to this European standard are designed without any special reference to vibration, shock or seismic conditions. If some of these conditions apply, it will be agreed between the manufacturer/supplier and the buyer.

The output drive of part-turn actuators can be either an integral part or a removable component to allow it to be machined to match the driven component of the valve as needed. The material of the drive component must be clearly stated in the manufacturer's/supplier's documentation.

For multi-turn actuators, the connection shall conform to EN ISO 5210. The output drive of multi-turn actuators can be either an integral part or a removable component, allowing it to be machined to fit the driven component of the valve as needed. The material of the drive component must be clearly stated in the manufacturer's/supplier's documentation.

For actuators containing stored electrical energy systems that provide a fail-safe function in the loss of main electrical power, the supplied documentation should specify possible configurable options, including assumed fail-safe action/direction and valid warnings regarding stored electrical power supply. It will be the buyers/users responsibility to mark the actuator with the configured safe direction.
