EN 29770 Thermal Insulation Products for Building Applications - Thickness Test for Floating Floor Insulation Products

EN 29770 specifies equipment and procedures for determining the thickness of thermal insulation products for impact sound insulation in floating floor applications.

Thickness is determined as the distance measured between a rigid, flat base plate on which the test specimen rests and a rigid, flat pressure plate that applies different defined pressures to the upper surface of the test specimen.

A device with the same accuracy for two readings of thickness is placed symmetrically on a diagonal on the top square plate of the device. The average of these two readings is the thickness/deformation.

The number of test samples will be as specified in the relevant product standard. If the number is not specified, ten test specimens will be used. In the absence of a product standard or other international or European technical specification, the number of test samples may be agreed upon between the parties.

Test specimens should be cut without product edges. Test samples shall be prepared by methods that do not alter the original structure of the product. All skins, skins or overlays will be preserved.
