Test pieces shall be conditioned to constant mass in an atmosphere of (65 ± 5) % relative humidity and (20 ± 2) °C. Constant mass is considered to have been reached when the results of two consecutive weighing operations performed at 24-hour intervals do not differ by more than 0,1% of the mass of the test piece.
EN 325 is a European standard that specifies a method for determining the size of test pieces for wood-based panels. The purpose of this standard is to ensure that test pieces used to evaluate the properties of wood-based panels are of consistent size and shape.
The standard specifies that test pieces must be rectangular in shape, 250 mm long and 50 mm wide. The thickness of the test pieces will depend on the thickness of the panel under test and should be at least 10 mm.
The test pieces should be cut from the panel to represent the entire panel. This means that they must be cut in the middle of the panel and care must be taken to ensure that there are no defects or anomalies in the wood.
After the test pieces are cut, their dimensions should be measured using a calibrated measuring device. Length and width should be measured to the nearest 0,5 mm and thickness to the nearest 0,1 mm.
