EN 50131-1 Alarm Systems - Test for Intrusion and Hold Systems

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 50131-1 testing. This European standard specifies requirements for Intrusion and Hold Alarm Systems installed in buildings using dedicated or non-dedicated wired interconnects or wireless interconnects.

These requirements also apply to components of an I&HAS that are normally installed in a building, such as auxiliary control equipment or warning devices. The standard does not include requirements for external I&HAS. This standard specifies performance requirements for the installed I&HAS, but does not include design, planning, installation, operation, or maintenance requirements.

These requirements also apply to I&HAS tools for sensing, triggering, interconnection, control, communication and sharing power resources with other applications. The operation of an I&HAS will not be adversely affected by other applications. Requirements are specified for the I&HAS components for which the relevant media is classified. This classification defines the environment in which an I&HAS component can be expected to function as designed.

The requirements of this European Standard also apply to IAS and HAS when these systems are installed independently. Intrusion detection requirements do not apply when an I&HAS does not include intrusion detection functions.

The purpose of this standard is to assist insurers, intrusion alarm companies, customers and the police in determining the full and accurate inspection required at certain facilities, but does not specify the type of technology, extent or extent of detection, and also necessarily covers all requirements for a particular installation.

All references to I&HAS requirements refer to basic minimum requirements, and designers of such established I&HAS should consider the nature of facilities, value of content, degree of intrusion risk, threat to personnel, and other factors. The grade and content of an I&HAS can influence its choice.
