This European Standard specifies requirements, test methods and performance criteria for point type, resettable flame detectors operating using the radiation emitted from a flame for use in fire detection systems installed in buildings.
This standard does not cover flame detectors operating on principles different from those described in this standard (however, the standard can be used as a guide in the evaluation of such products).
Each detector shall be provided with an integrated red visual indicator by which an individual detector that issued an alarm can be identified until the alarm condition is reset. Where other conditions of the detector can be visually indicated, these should be clearly distinguishable from the alarm indication, except when the detector is put into service mode. For detachable detectors, the indicator can be solid with the base or the detector head.
Any preset data, such as the program and manufacturer's settings required to comply with this standard, must be retained in non-volatile memory. Writing this program and data to the memory areas containing it will only be possible using some special tool or code and will not be possible during normal operation of the detector.
If a test method requires a sample to be operational, the sample should be connected to appropriate feeding and monitoring equipment with the specifications required by the manufacturer's data. Unless otherwise specified in the test method, the feeding parameters applied to the sample should be set within the ranges specified by the manufacturer and remain substantially constant throughout the tests.
