EN ISO 10121-1 Test Method for Evaluating the Performance of Gas Phase Air Cleaning Environment and General Ventilation Devices - Part 1: Gas Phase Air Cleaning Environment

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 10121-1 test. EN ISO 10121-1 aims to provide an objective laboratory test method, a recommended apparatus, normative test sections and normative tests for the evaluation of three different solid gas phase air cleaning media (GPACM) or GPACM configurations for use in gas phase air.

Tests are performed in an air stream and GPACM configurations are tested with test gases under steady-state conditions. Because high gas loading concentrations are used (based on general ventilation practices), test data should be used to compare GPACM within the same configuration, not for the purpose of estimating performance in a real situation. Also, it is not implied that different GPACM configurations can be directly compared. The primary purpose is to be able to compare similar GPACM configurations with similar ones, not between GPACM configurations.

There is an increasing use and need for gas phase filtration in general filtration applications. This demand can be expected to increase rapidly due to the increasing awareness of pollution problems in the world and the solution of the problems in the form of filtration devices or, more technically, gas-phase air cleaning devices (GPACD).

The performance of devices using adsorption for degassing is highly dependent on the performance of the solid gas phase air cleaning medium (GPACM) incorporated into the device. However, applications, device performance, and media performance are often poorly understood by the user and supplier of such media and devices.

Ambient tests, if true low concentrations and longer exposure times can be used in the test, may be sufficient to present data for real applications, provided the geometric configuration of the small liquid, packing density and flow conditions are suitable. The scaled test sample is equivalent to that used in real applications. However, such tests are not covered by this part of EN ISO 10121. This part of EN ISO 10121 seeks to increase understanding and communication by providing a more standardized interface between media suppliers, device suppliers and end users.
