EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 15318 test standard. This European standard provides guidance on a test method that allows the identification of the seven PCBs specified in pulp, paper and board.

The test material is extracted with boiling ethanolic or methanolic potassium hydroxide solution. An aliquot of the extract is mixed with water and subjected to liquid-solid separation on a disposable C solid-phase extraction cartridge, followed by eluting with hexane or ISO-octane.
PCBs in the hexane phase are measured by capillary gas chromatography using an electron capture detector (ECD) or a mass selective detector (MSD). The model of the seven homogeneous peaks is compared to a technical PCB model.
