Blends are intentionally blended biofuels whereas blends are unintentionally blended biofuels. If the solid biofuel blend or blend contains chemically treated material, it should be specified.
The purpose of the EN ISO 17225 series is to provide clear and unambiguous classification principles for solid biofuels and to serve as a tool for efficient trading of biofuels and a good agreement between seller and buyer as well as a means for communication with equipment manufacturers. It will also facilitate authorization permit procedures and reporting.
This standard supports the use of graded non-woody pellets in devices specifically designed for residential, small commercial and public buildings as well as industrial power generation applications requiring graded pellet quality.
Non-woody pellets have high ash, chlorine (Cl), nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S) content and major element content, so non-woody pellets are recommended for use in devices specially designed or tuned for this species.
