EN ISO 29463 (all parts) establishes a procedure for determining the effectiveness of all filters on the basis of a particle counting method using a liquid (or alternatively solid) test aerosol and allows for a standardized classification of these filters according to their properties.
The difference between this standard and other national standards lies in the technique used to determine overall efficiency. Rather than mass relationships or total concentrations, this technique relies on the most penetrating particle size (MPPS) particle count for micro glass filter media, usually in the 0,12 µm to 0,25 µm range. This method also enables testing of ultra-low penetration air filters, which was not possible with previous test methods due to their insufficient sensitivity.
