EN ISO 7458 Glass Containers - Resistance to Internal Pressure - Test Methods

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 7458 testing. EN ISO 7458 specifies two test methods for determining the internal pressure resistance of glass containers; Method A by applying uniform internal pressure for a predetermined time and Method B applying increasing internal pressure at a predetermined constant rate.

EN ISO 7458 Glass Containers - Resistance to Internal Pressure - Test Methods

The test should be performed on a predetermined number of containers. Containers used for testing should not be subjected to any other mechanical or thermal testing that could affect their internal pressure resistance.

Apply the internal test pressure to the predetermined level and keep it constant for (60 ± 2) s or any other time, provided that the apparatus has means of correcting the pressure values to the values obtained for the 60 s test.

This test procedure can be harmful to health if adequate precautions are not taken by the operator. Tests should be safely performed as recommended. Continue testing, increasing the pressure in increments of 50 bar or 100 bar (1 MPa or 2 MPa) until 0,1% or 0,2% of the containers break.
