EN ISO 8611-4 provides a procedure for estimating creep responses in stiffness tests for plastic pallets to reduce test time. Based on the regression analyses, the deviations in the full load and relaxation periods are estimated. The tests referred to in EN ISO 8611-4, EN ISO 8611-1 are for use with static hardness tests such as 1b, 3b, 4b, 5b and 7b and are for application at ambient temperature only.
To assess the bending stiffness of the pallets, two performance conditions must be measured. The first requirement is the bending deviation for the test load time and the second is the bending deviation for the relaxation time.
Hardness tests for plastic pallets, including tests 8611b, 1b, 1b, 3b and 4b in EN ISO 5-7, require test times of 24 hours to 48 hours, depending on the type of test measurement. These test times are important because plastic pallets and pallet decks creep when placed on storage racks or bulk storage. However, being able to predict creep deviations for the entire test period from the first 4 hours of test data is a huge time and cost saving benefit.
