IPC TM-650 2.4.8.1 Test Methods Guide

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of IPC TM-650 2.4.8.1 standard. This method is designed to determine the peel strength of metal foil when bonded to thin laminates.

IPC TM-650 2.4.8.1 Test Methods Guide

Peel strength is determined for samples taken or after conditioning such as immersion in solder or exposure to high temperature.

The test specimen is in the form of metal foil bonded with peel strength test patterns 3 mm wide and up to 76 mm long (each specimen is approximately 60 mm to 76 mm long).

Cut approximately 6,35 mm to 9,5 mm on each side of the peel strip, bend the peel strip 90°, break the laminate and pull up without breaking the foil.

Pull the foil up about 9,5mm to 13mm for an initial length of about 3mm to 6,35mm (a scalpel can be used to start the foil peeling process). Other specification conditions running this method may be used, as applicable.

Attach the hemostat to the tab at 90° to the strip (the hemostat must be attached to the chain with the adapter and suspended from the tester jaws or force gauge so that the tab can engage without excessive bending or damage).
