ISO 15320 Pulp, Paper and Board, Standard Test for Determination of Pentachlorophenol in Aqueous Extract

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 15320 standard. ISO 15320 specifies a test method for the determination of pentachlorophenol (PCP) in an aqueous extract of pulp, paper and board.

ISO 15320 Pulp, Paper and Board, Standard Test for Determination of Pentachlorophenol in Aqueous Extract

It was developed for paper and board intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, but can be applied to all types of pulp, paper and cardboard.

A sample of the material to be tested is extracted with cold water according to EN 645 or with hot water according to EN 647. The pentachlorophenol in the extract is concentrated using solid phase extraction on a phenyl column.

Pentachlorophenol is then eluted from the phenyl column with hexane, acetylated using acetic anhydride, and the amount of pentachlorophenol present is determined using gas chromatography using an ECD (electron capture detector) or MS (mass spectrometry) detector. The result is expressed in milligrams per kilogram of material.
