Appearance assessed includes discoloration of fabrics, pilling, pilling, matting appearance, smooth fabric and smoothness appearance of seams, and retention of pressed wrinkles in garments and other textiles, damage to components.
This standard is applicable to washable textile end products of any fabric construction. Sewing and folding techniques are not included, as the aim is to evaluate textile end products as supplied from the manufacturer or ready to use.
Stitching and creasing techniques are controlled according to fabric properties. This method was developed primarily for use with Type B household washing machines as defined in ISO 6330, but can be used with any type of machine defined in ISO 6330.
It is recognized that prints and patterns can mask the existing wrinkled appearance. However, the grading process is based on the visual appearance of the samples, including such effects.
