This standard consists of drying a test portion diluted with water and mixed with kieselguhr at 70 °C and a pressure not exceeding 34 mbar.

It can be applied to syrups regardless of their production method, but also to syrups containing dried syrup, starch sugar and fructose.

The drying oven will provide uniform heat distribution and then maintain reduced pressure for several hours. The vacuum pump is turned off. Oven racks will be constructed and mounted in such a way as to provide good heat transfer.

The vacuum pump is suitable for reducing the pressure inside.
