These are tensile test specimens from which, with simple processing, specimens can be taken for various other tests.
Type A1 sample is a multi-purpose test sample. As a result, the measured properties are consistent because they were all measured using similar samples prepared in the same way. In other words, it can be expected that the test results for a given sample set will not change significantly due to unintentionally different molding conditions. On the other hand, if desired, the influence of molding conditions or different states of the samples for all measured properties can be evaluated without difficulty.
Also disclosed are reduced-scale test specimens of the so-called Axy type; where x is the number indicating the sample preparation method (1 = injection molded, 2 = machined from a sheet or shaped object) and y is a number indicating the scale factor (1). They can be used, for example, when full-size test specimens are not suitable or when only small quantities of sample material are present.
