The test applies to textile fabrics of full width, folded lengthwise in the middle or tubular, but not exceeding 100 m in length. ISO 22198 does not specify a method to identify or identify construction defects or other defects. Not applicable to coated fabrics.
For the test, a textile fabric sample conditioned in a comfortable state in a standard atmosphere is laid on a smooth surface. A calibrated rule is used to determine the length and width of the part. It may be necessary to measure partial lengths to determine the length of a sample. The total length of the sample is the sum of these partial lengths.
The sample should be placed flat on the surface of the measuring table. The test shall be carried out on fabric prepared in full width or folded in the middle or tubular along the length of the fabric. Avoid distortion of the fabric in its plane.
The width of full-width fabrics is the distance between the outermost edges measured perpendicular to the edges. The width of a fabric folded vertically down the middle is twice the distance from the folded edge to the harmoniously overlapped outer edges, measured perpendicular to the folded edge.
Calculate the arithmetic mean of the sample's length in meters to the nearest centimetre. If necessary, calculate the coefficient of variation in percent to the nearest 1% and 95% confidence limits to the nearest centimetre, or indicate the results of individual measurements in meters to the nearest centimeter.
