ISO 26987 Flexible Floor Coverings - Standard Test for Determination of Staining and Resistance to Chemicals

Various chemical substances in liquid or paste form are periodically placed on a test piece and removed. The appearance change that occurs after cleaning is evaluated under the specified lighting conditions.

Take a representative sample of the existing flooring material. The sample must be taken from a new roll or cardboard and no floor polish has been applied.

Take a test piece of each color to be tested with a surface area of ​​at least 3000 mm² for each of the chemicals to be tested. If the test uses a chemical that can cause swelling or deformation of the test piece, e.g. prolonged contact with the solvent, stick the test piece to a fiber-cement board at least 5 days before the test.

Identify the test pieces corresponding to each of the items tested, either by marking the numbers on the test piece (using a marking that is unaffected by the material used in the test) or by a sketch, diagram, or photograph.

The main contact time will be 5 hours with evaluation of the sample within 2 minutes of removal of the chemical. If, after cleaning and observation, the test piece is adversely affected (staining, dulling, softening, swelling, etc.), a new test should be performed for a period of 30 minutes.
