ISO 7202 Fire Protection - Fire Extinguishing Media

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, offers precise and rapid testing services within the scope of ISO 7202 testing. This standard specifies requirements for the chemical and physical properties of fire extinguishing powders suitable for use against class A, B, C and D fires and the minimum performance in defined test methods.

ISO 7202 Fire Protection - Fire Extinguishing Media

This International Standard is one of a series giving specifications for fire-extinguishing media that are in common use and require specification for fire-fighting purposes. These specifications are designed to determine that the media in question has at least minimum useful fire-extinguishing capacity and can therefore reasonably be sold for fire-extinguishing purposes.

Samples to be tested in accordance with this International Standard shall be taken using a method that will provide as representative a sample as possible. To avoid the risk of condensation, it is important that the temperature of the powder in its original container is not lower than the ambient air temperature when sampling. Sample containers should not be opened until temperature equilibrium with the laboratory air is reached.

When taking a large number of samples, at least 12 kg of material will be taken randomly from one batch. For batch testing, a randomly selected quantity of at least 2,5 kg will be taken from one container. Properly identified samples will be stored in separate, clean, dry, airtight, non-reactive containers.

The manufacturer must make statistical measurements to ensure that the declared values correspond to average values of the range of values specific to the manufacturing process.

Characteristic values for chemical content will be expressed as percentages (mass fraction) of the total content. Characteristic values for chemical content shall include all components present in the powder at a concentration representing 10% or more of the total content. The sum of the characteristic values for chemical content shall be 90% or more of the total content. Each component given a characteristic value must be identified by its chemical name or as the reaction product of a chemical process between reactants identified by their chemical names.
