JIS Z 2241 Room Temperature Tensile Test for Metallic Materials

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of JIS Z 2241 testing. This Japanese Industry Standard specifies test pieces for tensile testing for metallic materials. This standard specifies the method of tensile testing of metallic materials and defines their mechanical properties that can be measured at room temperature (between 10°C and 35°C).

JIS Z 2241 Room Temperature Tensile Test for Metallic Materials

The JIS Z 2241 standard provides guidelines for selecting appropriate sample sizes, loading speed, and test temperature based on the type of material being tested. The standard also outlines procedures for measuring and recording the test specimen dimensions as well as the load and elongation during the test.

At room temperature, metallic materials are typically tested on a tensile testing machine using a sample prepared to standardized dimensions and shape. The sample is clamped in the jaws of the machine and a tensile load is applied to the sample at a constant rate of deformation. While recording the machine force and the corresponding deformation of the specimen, the load is gradually increased until the specimen breaks.

The room temperature tensile test is important for evaluating the properties of metallic materials under general temperature conditions.
