SOR-2018-83 Standard Test Method for Consumer Products Containing Lead Legislation

• A product designed for a child under the age of 14 to learn or play;
• A book or similar printed product intended for a child under 14 years of age;
• A product whose primary purpose is to facilitate the relaxation, sleep, hygiene, handling or transport of a child under four years old.

Every accessible lead-containing part of a consumer product should not contain more than 90 mg/kg of lead when tested according to good laboratory practice.

Each accessible part may contain more than 90 mg/kg of lead if:

• Lead is required to produce a key feature of the part;
• No less lead alternative parts are available;
• The part releases no more than 90 mg/kg of lead when tested according to good laboratory practice.
