EN 1026 Standard Test Method for Windows and Doors, Air Permeability

This European standard defines the test method to be used to determine the air permeability of fully assembled window and door assemblies of any material when subjected to positive or negative test pressures.

This test method is designed to take into account conditions in use when the window or door assembly is installed in accordance with the manufacturer's specification and relevant European standards and codes of practice. This European standard does not apply to connections between the window or door frame frame and the building construction.

It is the application of a defined series of test pressures (positive and negative) and the measurement of air permeability at each test pressure with a suitable test device.

A chamber with an open side in which the test specimen can be placed. It should be constructed to withstand test pressures without deflection to the extent that could affect the test results.

The test specimen should be secured as intended, without any bending or twisting that could affect the test results. The test sample must be fully operable. The test specimen must be cleaned and surfaces must be dry. Ventilation devices, if any, shall be taped except where it is necessary to determine the amount of air flow through such devices.
