EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of SATRA TM55 test standard. This method aims to determine the resistance of a material to cracking or other types of deterioration in flexural folds.
The method is applicable to all flexible materials and especially to leathers, coated fabrics and textiles used in shoe uppers.
The test specimen is folded in half, then fixed at one end with a clamp. The test specimen is then inverted and secured with a second clamp with the free end 90 degrees to the first. The first clamp is repeatedly oscillated at a fixed angle at a certain rate causing the test specimen to flex.
At regular intervals, the number of stretching cycles is recorded and damage to the test specimen is evaluated visually. The test can be performed with wet or dry test specimens and at ambient or sub-zero temperatures.
