EN 846-6 Test Methods for Auxiliary Components for Masonry

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 846-6 standard. This European standard specifies a method for determining the tensile and compressive load capacity and load displacement characteristics of masonry ties that are screwed, nailed, jointed or otherwise attached to framing members or interior sheet materials.

EN 846-6 Test Methods for Auxiliary Components for Masonry

The test is designed for bonds for joining wall sheets to frame structures and inner sheets of cavity walls, apart from embedding the inner joint in a mortar joint.

The tie is screwed, nailed, jointed or tied using normal field techniques to a representative section of the frame member or inner leaf material using other devices such as keys in slots. The ligament is then subjected to tension or compression until rupture occurs.

Ten specimens will be prepared each for compression and tensile testing for testing at the minimum declared burial length. Where both ends of asymmetrical ties are tested separately, the number of samples for each should be doubled.

EUROLAB assists manufacturers with EN 846-6 test compliance.
