The test can be applied to different types of door and shutter assemblies designed to control smoke passage in case of fire. This test can also be applied to elevator landing doors and conveyor system doors and shutters.
The method is suitable for characterizing building hardware for use in non-metallic door or window assemblies consisting of cellulosic materials or mineral sheets covered with cellulosic, mineral core or cellulosic materials suspended on metal frames: or conventional steel doors made of sheet steel, thicker than 1,5 mm hung on steel frames (steel doors include mineral sheet or mineral fiber filled doors, but not steel-clad wood/cellulosic doors). The size of these assemblies can be up to the size given directly in the field of application for the respective door leaf construction.
This method is not directly suitable for evaluating building hardware for use in glass or glazed doors with decorative perimeter frames. The suitability of this test method can be determined by reference to the flow chart provided.
This European Standard does not establish a fire resistance test for a leaf, window, frame, intumescent seal or anything other than the selected item. building equipment.
